General Information

When empowered as an Insurance Umpire in an Appraisal Case, said Umpire accepts the mantel of a Private Judge, in order to settle the differences as between the Policyholders and the Insurance Company. The purpose of NAIU© is to bestow creditability to these qualified individuals who have a proven track record of understanding insurance related damages, and handling such matters in an exemplary manner.

The NAIU© realized there is a need for a quality organization that would bring together, and therefore benefit, Insurance Umpires. NAIU© was founded by experienced and proven Umpires to fill this void in the Insurance Industry.

This Private Organization is open to Independent and Staff Adjusters, Claims Management Personnel, Attorneys, Mediators, Contractors, Engineers and Public Adjusters who fall within the Association Guidelines.

Membership Information

All Umpire Candidates will submit an application to NAIU© to be reviewed. Approved Candidates, upon payment of the Membership Fee, can then submit formal information that will be published as an Official Resume. This information may be viewed on the NAIU© website by Opposing Appraisers looking for an Umpire Candidate, and also by the General Public. All Chartered Members will be listed by State and cross-referenced by Name.

Successful Umpire Candidates will be able to use the NAIU© designation CPIU© - Chartered Property Insurance Umpire© - after their name. A Membership Certificate, suitable for framing, will be issued upon acceptance .

Once a Membership Application is submitted, it will either be Accepted or Rejected and you will receive a written response within 24 hours. Successful Applicants will receive Certificates within 30 days.

Individuals who are in involved with the Appraisal Process in the capacity of Insurance Appraisers, but are not openly seeking Umpire appointments, can also join the NAIU Organization as Associate Members. Qualified Appraisers will be authorized to use the NAIU© designation RGA© - which stands for Registered General Appraiser©. The cost for this Membership is the same as the Umpire Membership Fee.

The yearly Membership Fee is $100.00 and includes Profile Listings in 3 States. Addition State listings may be purchased at $15.00 per State. Active Umpires are encouraged to only list their Profile in the States in which they actually practice.
